Who wants to win a camera by taking a few pictures for me? Here's the deal. I was recently perusing all of my Lomography Awards to see what, if any, I'd gotten since the last time I checked. I'm bad at keeping on top of it - especially since you commonly receive them for things like uploading more than 300 pics or leaving more than 50 comments and stuff like that. This time, to my very great surprise, I had been given one award quite different from the others, the Lomography Gallery Store Chicago's LomoWall Winners Award. Yeesh, what a mouthful.
I had entered a contest on Lomography.com a while back. For those of you who don't have a clue as to what I'm talking about, Lomography.com was founded in Vienna, Austria by a group of students and has since expanded into an international online community of analog photography lovers, a Magazine, and a chain of kick-ass stores in major cities around the world. The walls of each store are covered in analog photos taken in whatever city the store is based in. Last year I found out that Lomography.com was setting up a new store in Chicago. Be still, my caffeine addled heart.
Not only had I spent a few years living in Chicago, but I had a polaroid camera pretty much wherever I went. I have hundreds of Chicago polaroids. Now I find that Lomography.com is holding a contest to choose which analog photos of the city shall adorn the walls of their new store. It was fate.
So, yeah, one of my polaroids was chosen to be a permanent fixture in the store, only, they neglected to mention which one. We were allowed to submit up to 36 pictures for this contest and I have no idea which one of the 36 were chosen, and here I am sitting in New Jersey. So if anyone out there in the Windy City wouldn't mind heading down to the store and checking it out for me, there will be a small reward for first responders.
The Task: Go to the Lomography store in Chicago and find which of my polaroids is displayed on the walls. Then take a few good pictures of the whole wall and a few close-up pictures of my polaroid with the surrounding images in the frame. Also, take some pictures of yourself standing in front of the wall and pointing to the polaroid. They can be digital images, it doesn't matter, but make them good and clear, guys! Finally, e-mail them to me at firstname.lastname@example.org along with whatever address you want me to mail the prize to. The store address is:
1422 N. Milwaukee Ave. Chicago, IL 60622
The Prize: A brand new POP 9 Lomography Camera It's not much but it's the best I can do. For reference, below are the 36 polaroids I entered. Go to it! P.S. Runners Up will receive this Lomography Analog Camera Keychain.
